2025 will be remembered at Ostatu as a year of learning, effort, and adaptation.

A demanding and unpredictable growing season that, despite the challenges, has given us grapes with a strong personality and wines full of character.

A Year of Extremes: Generous Rainfall and Intense Heat

The cycle began with abundant rainfall in winter and spring, encouraging vigorous vine growth. However, this same humidity brought unprecedented pressure from downy mildew—the most severe we’ve ever experienced—posing a major challenge in the vineyard.

August arrived with intense heatwaves, pushing temperatures up to 40 °C and bringing tropical nights. Thanks to the water reserves built up earlier in the season, the vines endured remarkably well.

A warm, dry September followed, allowing for slow, even ripening and excellent sugar concentration in the berries.

Lower Yields, Greater Concentration

The year’s conditions, along with a hailstorm in July, led to reduced yields across much of the vineyard, particularly in Tempranillo. Yet the healthy grapes that remained showed exceptional balance and concentration, with small berries and vibrant natural acidity.

While the average yield was clearly below recent vintages—though higher than in 2024—the quality of the fruit more than made up for the lower quantity.

An Early and Highly Selective Harvest

Harvest began slightly earlier than usual, on September 12, and concluded in the first week of October.

Fruit health was excellent, with no presence of botrytis or powdery mildew. This allowed us to work with calm and precision, harvesting each plot at its optimal point of ripeness—a reflection of our unwavering commitment to quality.

The 2025 Wines: Depth and Authenticity

The first tastings of this vintage reveal wines that are balanced, expressive, and full of aromatic intensity.

These are wines of depth and freshness, shaped by the strength of the vineyard and the patient, dedicated work of the entire year.

A vintage that, though limited in volume, will be remembered for its quality, authenticity, and the spirit of resilience that made it possible.
